Margaret Eleanor Thompson was born on March 14, 1942, in Portland, Oregon, to loving parents William and Dorothy Collins. The eldest of three children, she grew up surrounded by music, laughter, and the smell of her mother's fresh-baked bread.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960 and earned her teaching degree from the University of Oregon. For 35 years, she taught third grade at Woodstock Elementary, where generations of children learned not just reading and arithmetic, but kindness, patience, and the courage to be themselves.

In 1965, she married Robert Thompson, the love of her life. Together they built a home filled with love, raising three children — David, Susan, and Michael — who each carry forward her warmth and generosity.

Margaret was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren, a passionate gardener, a talented pianist, and a tireless volunteer at St. Mary's Food Bank. She believed that the measure of a life was not in years, but in the love you give away.

She is survived by her children David (Karen), Susan (James), and Michael (Anna), her seven grandchildren, her sister Patricia, and countless friends whose lives she brightened simply by being in them.
